Territory
At the foot of Mount Bego, the Vallée des Merveilles, the Val Masca and the Val d'Inferno (Valley of Hell) offer a unique and extraordinary landscape: traces of the passage of the quaternary ices and rock abrasions phenomena. Moreover, over 40.000 prehistoric rock engravings dating back to 2000 B.C. make it one of the most popular alpine settings.
The flora and the fauna are quite remarkable: walkers may glimpse a chamois, ibexes, roe deer, stone martens, marmots and ermines... and they will see all the typical alpine plants, some of which are very rare and of great interest such as the saxifrage with multiple flowers (saxiflora florulenta).
